How To Measure Personal Growth

Measuring Personal Growth

If you are at a stage in your life where you want to see evidence for growth, you’ve opened the right blog post. There is a significant way to measure personal growth and it doesn’t involve a tape measure (too corny, yes?).

As I continue to study becoming an intuitive coach, there are moments of uncomfortable-ness (is that even a word?) that seem to plague me. I love my comfort zone, but nothing ever seems to grow there...

THAT’S IT. You can measure personal growth by how uncomfortable you are in situations you don’t normally put yourself in.

For example, if you have always been the type of personal that doesn’t express your feelings often, finally talking about them can lead you to be highly uncomfortable. But this just means you are growing personally, and you are on the right path. It’s really quite a beautiful thing.

Personal development is an important aspect of growing as a person. It is a great investment in yourself. A lot of people refuse to acknowledge that fact, and continue to “zombie” their way through life, pretending the way they are living is fine, and that the comfort zone is the place to be. That, my friends, is a choice. If you can look yourself in the mirror every day and say with a real smile, that you love your life, than the comfort zone may be your spot.

Me, on the other hand, and maybe because I am a Truth Seeker, get really, really agitated there. When I am not growing I am getting restless, and it’s not just my ADHD. It’s my intuition telling me I know I have more work to do, because I am not content where I am, emotionally, physically, mentally, WHATEVER. I need to get to the next level, then the next, then the next….

If you are reading this and wondering if you are a zombie or not, try this exercise. Do something today that you wouldn’t normally do. Eat something exotic, talk to a stranger, wear something you normally wouldn’t. Identify how you feel doing each of these things. If you feel uncomfortable, identify that this may be an opportunity of personal growth. Marinate on that for a minute.
